The responses were fantastic. One was when the shoemaker was asleep and was asked, ‘How is your character feeling?’, his response was, “I am poor and very sad and feeling worried because I only have one piece of leather left to make a pair of shoes.“
An elf in their last freeze-frame was dancing. “I am happy because the shoemaker has made us some new clothes. We are dancing to celebrate.”
The next day, a small pair of shoes appeared overnight in the shoe factory role play area with some small tiny footprints next to them. The children imagined they were the shoemaker, writing a letter to find out more about who had made and left the amazing shoes. We then wrote a reply to the shoemaker telling him about who had made the shoes.
Finally, we designed our own shoes and created instructions to make them.
