![]() In Maths, we have begun our new unit, ‘Measurement’. We have had lots of fun comparing the length and height of different objects around the classroom. We also measured the length of objects using non-standard units, such as paper clips and cubes.
This week in Year 5, we began by completing assessments in all the core subjects.
Within English, we began the new term by introducing sonnets. The children discovered that a sonnet consists of 14 lines, with 10 syllables per lines. Most sonnets contain either a problem and resolution or a question and answer - the majority of sonnets are based on love, jealousy, beauty and death. Within PE, we began a new scheme of work where the children will be participating and learning a range of skills in cricket. The first lesson began, with the children using an orange ball and then aiming it at the stumps from a range of distances, trying to run out the batsman. In science, the children have started to look at the topic, ‘Earth and space.’ They are very much looking forward to learning more about this exciting part of the curriculum. We are also doing the road safety walk today (Thursday) yesterday (Wednesday) we made a comment on the OPAL scheme in my opinion, I think it is necessary for the school because it makes pupils have fun and gives each and every one of us a chance to play. |
