Aspirations & Enterprise Week

30/9/2016

In June, pupils from East Tilbury Primary School & Nursery took part in an Aspirations and Enterprise Week organised by their school. They wrote Curriculum Vitae and Personal Statements using resources from Warwick Careers and Skills service. Their pieces of writing were then entered into a whole school competition.
The Outreach team was very impressed with the wide range of hobbies and skills the pupils wrote about.
We are very proud to present to you the winners!

In year 2 we have started off the year learning about food. We have already learnt about food groups and the types of food we need to stay healthy. We used inspiration from Giuseppe Arcimboldo to create our own fruit face pictures and have designed healthy lunch boxes. We are looking forward to learning more about food in year 2 and have a food workshop in school next week.

The children had an amazing experience on Tuesday when they attended the food tasting session. They enjoyed the opportunity of tasting banana smoothie
freshly made in front of them! They also learnt about using different fruits to make smoothie and were reminded about the importance of exercise and having 5 a day of fruits and vegetables.

This week we have been treated to a visit from Thurrock Catering services to teach us all about healthy, responsible eating whilst having fun at the same time.

Darren Tinkler from "Roots to Food" Delivered an informative assembly where we learnt about different food groups and their nutritional content. This was followed by a very "heated" and competitive battle between Mr Palser and Mr Gregory to see who could be the most creative with a selection of ingredient s and a time limit of 15 minutes to deliver a tasty, healthy and nutritious dish. The winner would be decided by selected members of the audience based on taste and appearance. Who was crowned "ETPS Best Chef 2016?" Watch the video and find out!
In the afternoon, Key Stage One and Early Years had workshops on fun, fitness and food and they also had the opportunity to sample a smoothie. The aim of the day was to focus on healthy eating and keeping fit, I am sure the children will had great fun taking part. Many thanks to Jenny Pittam and Judith Smith from Thurrock Catering Services and also Darren from Roots to Food.
