I have enjoyed seeing a range of activities this half term. Children in Year 1 have been battling obstacle courses practicing their athletics skills, Year 5 have orienteered themselves around the outdoor areas, Year 4 and improved their football skills and Year 3 have overcome different challenges in athletics lessons. The weather hasn’t always been kind to us, but the children have soldiered on throughout.
PE lessons are will continue to go ahead outside after half term including in the run up to Christmas. Please ensure children are well equipped with warm outdoor clothing, a change of socks and suitable footwear. Jogging bottoms, a jumper and trainers would be ideal.
As a staff team, we continue to look at different possibilities for PE lessons in the winter months whilst also adhering to the current restrictions.
As we move into the next half term year groups will be completing the following PE lessons:
Year 6 - fitness and OAA (outdoor adventurous activities, map orienteering and team building)
Year 5 - rugby skills
Year 4 - netball skills
Year 3 - football skills
Year 2 - athletics skills
Year 1 - ball skills
Reception - fundamental skills
Unfortunately face to face Thurrock SSP competitions are still on hold and are likely to be until after Easter.
