It was a dazzling sunny afternoon at the Thurrock Nature Reserve on Wednesday 8th June. Six pupils from Year 4 represented the year group at a special prize giving ceremony for the borough-wide Sculpture on a Pallet Project. Children from our school were the youngest in the competition and waited with baited breath as the winners were announced. Our first cheer was when we won a highly commended award for 4BG’s sculpture, though Mr Barry-Gregory preferred that it wasn’t referred to as ‘the one with all the sand and mud on it’! We were so excited to be presented with certificates by the CEO of the Essex Wildlife Trust for all of our sculptures and to hear about his passion to work with animals from a very young age, as this also tied in well with this week’s Aspirations and Enterprise Week. A huge well done to all of Year 4. You will be able to see our pallets on display as part of a summer art trail from 9 July.
